Meet Georgia Wellman, our newest Strategic Development Intern! Georgia is a junior at the University of Washington this year. She plans on studying Marketing and Finance at the Michael G. Foster School of Business. In the future, she hopes to combine her love of business with her passion for social justice. From the Seattle area, Georgia has always loved the Pacific Northwest all that it brings. She enjoys hiking, running Greenlake and appreciates just being in the outdoors. Although Georgia loves her home she has an avid desire to travel. She hopes to study abroad during her college career and explore other countries and cultures .
Georgia has always had a passion for community service. This passion started in high school with her involvement in National Honors Society. Through NHS she got participated in various construction projects in poverty-stricken cities across the country. Her enthusiasm for service only expanded when she started at the University of Washington. Georgia traveled to Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic during her freshman and sophomore years at the UW. She worked with organizations focused on community development in impoverished villages. These trips sparked her interest for nonprofit work.
Georgia was introduced to Construction for Change through a Founders Day event held by her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. She was inspired by the speaker Julie Lewis, founder of the 30/30 project. After hearing her speak, Georgia knew that Construction for Change was an organization that she wanted to be apart of. Georgia is excited to join the team at CfC and take on her role as the Strategic Development Intern. We are thrilled to welcome Georgia to the CfC Family and know she will be a valuable asset to our team!
