FAQs
Common questions, answered quickly:
- Does CfC donate money? No.
- Are Build and Plan services free? No, but they save more than they cost.
- Who qualifies for Raise services? Nonprofits with feasible, aligned projects.
Does CFC fund projects directly?
No. CfC is not a grantmaking organization. We do not provide direct funding or donations for construction projects. Instead, we offer expert services and connections that often result in reduced costs, greater efficiency, and stronger fundraising outcomes for nonprofits.
What’s the difference between pro bono and paid services?
Fee-based services include things like pre-construction planning, budgeting, design advisory, and project management. These are professional services that CfC delivers to ensure project success — and they typically lead to savings that far exceed their cost.
Pro bono services involve donated time or expertise from CfC’s partner network — such as architects, engineers, or consultants — and are only available through an application process. These are awarded selectively to high-need, high-impact projects.
Can I apply for pro bono support?
Yes. If your organization is pursuing a capital project and needs technical or design assistance, you may apply for CfC’s pro bono or grant-supported services. Applications are reviewed based on alignment with our mission, project feasibility, potential impact, and funding readiness.
Who does CfC work with?
We primarily work with nonprofits, NGOs, mission-driven organizations, and community institutions seeking to build social infrastructure — like schools, clinics, community centers, and housing. If you’re unsure whether you’re a fit, reach out — we’re happy to talk.
Are Helping Build and Helping Plan services free?
No. These are paid services, but they provide exceptional return on investment. Our construction oversight often saves clients 10% or more through value engineering, risk avoidance, and contractor accountability. Our planning services help ensure projects are fundable, compliant, and aligned with real-world conditions.
Do I need to be in the U.S. to work with CfC?
No. CfC operates internationally, with teams supporting projects across North America, East Africa, and beyond. We have regional experts in place to navigate local regulations, cultural norms, and construction practices.
What kinds of projects qualify for Helping Raise?
We support capital construction projects that demonstrate clear community need and a credible path to funding. This includes new builds, expansions, or renovations of healthcare centers, education facilities, and community hubs. Helping Raise can include both fee-based technical support and the opportunity to apply for pro bono services.
What is the Mira Azalea Initiative?
It’s a special program under CfC where families can start a memorial campaign to raise funds for maternal and infant healthcare infrastructure — such as maternity wards or clinics — in memory of a lost child. CfC manages the construction and keeps families involved through every step.
